The BPP's Ninth Learning Commuity was held at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa in Mesa, Arizona (Phoenix area) on April 16 through 18, 2008.

The learning community, titled, A New Beginning for the US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership: Independence, Expansion and Leadership, brought together over 80 regional and international leaders from philanthropy, the corporate sector and government to share ideas and knowledge and shape the future of the partnership. At the 9th Learning Community BPP founding members renewed their commitment and stewardship of the BPP as a vehicle towards improving quality of life in the border region.
