PAST MEDIA RELEASES (click on the title to see the full release)Bi-national Initiative for Border Giving Comes to Las Cruces, New Mexico (APRIL 2007) Las Cruces, New Mexico – As controversy over building triple fences and immigration continues to mark the discourse around the US-Mexico border region, a group of 21 border community foundations and 12 national, regional and international funders from both countries are working collaboratively across the border to improve quality of life for low income families and communities. On April 18-20, 2007, the partners of the US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership (BPP) will convene their eighth, bi-national learning conference in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The BPP improves quality of life for low income families and communities via the strengthening of border community foundations and promotion of philanthropy in the region. Since its launch in 2002, this unique bi-national partnership has generated over $15 million in support for border foundations and communities. Bi-national Initiative for Border Giving Comes to Cd. Juárez (NOVEMBER 2006) US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership For immediate release Cd. Juárez, Mexico- On November 16 and 17 The US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership (BPP) will convene over 40 representatives of 13 community foundations and 20 young people from all along and across the US Mexico border in Cd. Juárez to formally launch the BPP’s Jovenes Fronterizos initiative. This event highlights the role young people and their well being, play in the future prosperity of the region. The conference also affirms the critical role border community foundations can have in engaging, advancing and advocating for the interests of border youth. Bi-national Initiative for Border Giving Comes to Brownsville (JUNE 2006) For immediate release BROWNSVILLE – As passionate immigration debates swirl in Washington, leaders representing 22 border communities continue to learn and collaborate on building homegrown philanthropic giving and improving quality of life in the border region, thanks to a renewed financial commitment by several of the country’s most prestigious philanthropic organizations. The VII US-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership (BPP) Learning Community at the Rancho Viejo Resort June 27-29 brings together representatives from community foundations stretching all the way from Brownsville and Matamoros, to San Diego and Tijuana. Backed by grants from the Ford Foundation, Houston Endowment and 10 other national, regional and international funders, participants at the conference will have the opportunity to learn, network and expand their ability to run organizations that improve the lives of families and communities from both sides of the line.
